Ben Böhmer has had a whirlwind year. The Berlin-based producer and live act officially had the biggest Spotify streaming growth of any Electronic artist in the world, his 2019 debut LP Breathing surpassed 50 million streams and, with his SOLD OUT 30,000 ticket tour put on hold due to the global pandemic, Böhmer live streamed a show for fans from a 3,000 ft. high hot air balloon overlooking Cappadocia’s honeycombed hills via Cercle (Peggy Gou, Disclosure, The Blaze). The live set has quickly become one of their most successful streams to date - now with over 11 million views in just six months, it has cemented his place among fans and critics alike as ‘the’ Electronic artist to watch. He has been nominated alongside Phoebe Bridgers, Arlo Parks and Laura Marling for Best Live Streamed Act by the AIM awards (2021).
Following the announce of his second album ‘Begin Again’ and first single ‘Beyond Beliefs’, Ben soars to new heights with his next LP offering ‘Escalate’, featuring vocals from fellow German act and ‘Breathing’ album collaborator, JONAH. Debuted during Böhmer’s recent live set for German YouTube and Netflix sensation, Kliemannsland (the first of any artist to do so), ‘Escalate’ blends Ben’s signature melodic house soundscapes alongside a raucous distorted synth line and JONAH’s smooth vocal hooks making for a wildly euphoric peak time festival moment. ‘Escalate’ is the second album single lifted from the LP, which is due September 24th, on seminal deep house imprint Anjunadeep.
Begin Again was inspired and written while Böhmer and his fiancé were separated on opposite sides of the globe for nine months due to the global travel ban. Backed up by stunning features from Gordi, lau.ra, PBSR and JONAH, the album sees him perfectly portray the longing and uncertainty he and many of us experienced during this time.
